Ikenobo Headquarters would like to inform the information of Ikebana International 18th North and Central American Regional Conference will be held in Dallas, USA in October 2019. Mrs. Senko Ikenobo, the Headmaster Designate and Prof. Manabu Noda will visit Dallas to participate in the events. Please kindly refer to the information below.

EVENTS

 

1. Opening Ceremony / Ribbon Cutting: from 18:00 to 19:00 on 28th Oct.

 

2. Welcome Dinner: from 19:00 on 28th Oct at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel Grand Hall

 

3. Exhibition: open at 18:00 28th Oct. / close at 12:00 31st Oct (Headmaster Designate Mrs. Senko Ikenobo and Prof. Noda will display arrangements)

 

4. Demonstration of Headmaster Designate Mrs. Senko Ikenobo: 15:00 to 16:30 on 30th Oct. at the Majestic Theater

 

5. Workshops related to Ikenobo

 

a.
Large Exhibit Workshop (from 15:00 to 17:00 on 27th Oct. / fee: $75.00)
An opportunity to work with the 2019 NCARC’s guest artists in creating major Ikebana art that will be installed in a special location in the conference venue.
(Ikenobo – Professor Manabu Noda, Sogetsu – Kika Shibata, Riji, Ohara – Jose Salcedo, 1st Term Master, Ichiyo – Elaine Jo, Executive Master)

 

b.
Free style workshop by Prof. Manabu Noda (from 9:30 to 16:00 on 29th Oct. / fee: $150.00 lunch included)
Participants: Ikenobo members who belong to Ikenobo Chapters or Study Groups
Morning Lecture: Ikenobo Free Style based on the traditional beauty and construction of Ikenobo
Afternoon Practice: Every participant will create one Free style arrangement according to what they learned from the lecture. Floral materials will be prepared and provided to the participants in the class
Containers and Tools: Every participant should bring their own Free Style container, kenzans and tools. Prof. Noda suggests that it will be easier to arrange with a wide-mouth container

Rikka shimputai workshop by Prof. Manabu Noda (from 9:30 to 16:00 31st Oct. / fee: $150.00 lunch included)
Participants: Ikenobo members who hold Ikenobo diploma #9 (Assistant Professor of Ikebana, 3rd Grade) or above
Morning Lecture: Rikka shimputai
Afternoon Practice: Every participant will create one Rikka shimputai arrangement according to what they learned from the lecture. Floral materials will be prepared and provided to the participants in the class
Containers and Tools: Every participant should bring their own Rikka shimputai container, kenzans and tools

 

d.
Ikenobo ikebana lesson by Mrs. Yoshiko LeSage (from 13:30 to 16:00 on 31st Oct. / fee: $75.00)
This Ikenobo ikebana lesson will provide a fundamental class for novices and will be open to anyone who is interested in gaining an introduction to the school of Ikenobo; or for a beginning Ikenobo student who is seeking to improve their techniques.

 

6. Sayonara Dinner: from 19:00 on 31st Oct. at the Sheraton Dallas Downtown Hotel

 

NOTE

The participants of the Conference events must be the I. I. member. For those who are not members, I. I. will handle a 2019 – 2020 membership fee through the Registration process. For the workshops of Prof. Noda, the participants also must be the Ikenobo members.
