The Gion Matsuri is count as one of the three great festivals of Japan. The festival will be held on a reduced scale due to the spread of COVID-19 infection this year, and the parade of decorated floats (called yama and hoko) which townspeople are looking forward was decided to cancel. The origin of Gion Matsuri is to pray for an end to the plague. During festival period, the blackberry lily has been decorated as an amulet at townhouses entrance and Tokonoma.

 

Ikenobo Headquarters will live stream demonstration of creating a grand ikebana arrangement of blackberry lily by Mr. Makoto Fujii and Mr. Nobuaki Tanaka together with music on July 17 (Japan time). We will live stream with English and Chinese interpretation.

 

The music will be played by Ms. Mika Enjo (flute), Ms. Minako Matsuda (viola) and Ms. Hidemi Hosotsuji (cello) from “Kyoto Trio”.

 

Please enjoy Live Stream ikebana demonstration collaborate with beautiful music played in the Rokkakudo temple, the center of Kyoto city.

 

Please note that it will be held with limited person in order to prevent the spread of infection.
