2012 New Year Arranging Ceremony

January 13, 2012

Hatsuike-shiki (New Year Arranging Ceremony) was held on Jan. 5, 2012 at the Ikenobo Headquarters, Kyoto.

Young men and women wearing kimono arranged flowers at the Dojo (traditional training hall) of the Ikenobo Headquarters. There were some participants from the foreign countries, too. The Headmaster Designate Yuki Ikenobo viewed each of these arrangements and offered advice. After this viewing, the Headmaster Designate created her own first New Year arrangement to express her wishes for the coming year, followed by her New Year greeting and her promise to work for further advancement in the art.

About 1500 Ikenobo members with ages ranging from 5 to 96, displayed their first New Year arrangements at Dojo, Ikenobo Headquarters’ main building and West 18 building.
