Ikenobo Ikebana Society of America 50th Anniversary and Ikenobo Northern California Chapter 55th Anniversary was held on March 17th, 2018 to March 19th, 2018 in San Francisco, U.S.A.

 

The celebration was a great success with a presence of the Headmaster Sen’ei Ikenobo, the Headmaster Designate Senko Ikenobo, the Secretary General of Ikenobo Headquarters Masafumi Ikenobo, Ikenobo Headquarters Professor Fukuhiro Nakamura and Professor Daiji Miura. More than hundred members from the Chapters in Japan and former Ikenobo Headquarters Special Visiting Professor to the U.S. also participated in the events.

 

Mr. Tomochika Uyama, Consul-General of Japan in San Francisco attended the opening ceremony.

After the opening ceremony, the Headmaster, the Headmaster Designate and Mr. Masafumi Ikenobo viewed over 130 arrangements made by the Chapter members and members from Japan, giving comment and advice to each arranger.

 

The movie “Hana Ikusa (Flower and Sword)” was screened in San Francisco on March 18th with the presence of the Headmaster Designate and Mr. Masafumi Ikenobo, and 110 members enjoyed the movie.

 

The events was highlighted with the demonstration by the Headmaster and the Headmaster Designate followed by Mawari-ike ceremony performed by Prof. Fukuhiro Nakamura and six professors. The performance was appreciated by about 400 attendees.

 

On the evening of the 17th, the Banquet party was held. In the banquet, the Headmaster awarded the Ikenobo Award of Merit, Longevity Award to the distinguished members and memorial plaque was presented to the Chapter. Members from Japan and North America enjoyed their conversation and strengthen their friendships.

 

On March 19th, members from North America enjoyed participating in the Workshops by Prof. Fukuhiro Nakamura, Prof. Manabu Noda and Prof. Shunso Kobayashi. All of the members learned the newest information of Ikenobo ikebana and had a delight conversation with the Professors and other participants.
