The 2015 Ikenobo Ikebana Study Tour Workshop for North American members took place at the Ikenobo Headquarters (Oct. 31 to Nov. 3) and Ikenobo Junior College (Nov. 6 to 8) both in Kyoto. The classes were conducted by the Ikenobo Headquarters Professors.
At the Ikenobo Headquarters, 3 classes were held according to participants’ diploma levels. Flower materials used for the advanced-level classes were “suisen” (narcissus), “omoto” (Rohdea japonica) and “kakitsubata” (Iris laevigata), which are difficult to obtain in North America. One of the highlights of classes at Ikenobo Junior College was the Special Member Workshop which newly implemented in North America in 2014, using the special containers and textbook to learn the teaching method of Free-style and Rikka.
The participants of the Study Tour and Ikenobo Headquarters Special Visiting Professors to the United States and Canada gathered at the official banquet held on Nov. 13 at Rihga Royal Hotel in Kyoto. The occasion was a wonderful opportunity to all attendees to share old memories, catch- up on recent news and enjoy longstanding friendships.
