The Ghent Floralies is a world renowned famous plant and flower show in the city of Ghent, Belgium, and was held from 22 April to 1 May 2016.

This year, Japan was the guest of honor at this festival, at one of the four sites “The Bijloke” with the theme of “East meets west”.

Members from Belgium Study Group worked on dome construction in cooperate with 2 other Ikebana schools. They choose the theme for the exhibition as “tradition of change” and they created three arrangements.  They find that the theme characterizes Ikenobo Ikebana; we have “tradition” and we “change = adapt” to the new ways of living, thinking of a society that is evolving continuously.
The king and queen of Belgium made a visit and were enthusiast to discover the ikebana arrangements.
