10:00 – 18:00 at Ikenobo Headquarters Building

(※ Exhibits close at 17:00 on April 14^th, 16:00 on April 16^th)

Admission fee: 500 yen (Admission free for high school students or younger)

Over 1,000 ikebana arrangements by ikebana teachers and students of Ikenobo School from all over Japan will be exhibited at the Ikenobo Headquarters, located on the premises of the Rokkakudo Temple, birthplace of Ikebana. Also, Rokkakudo Temple will be beautifully illuminated by lanterns in the evening. Don’t miss this opportunity to experience authentic Japanese traditional culture.

✿ Willow of Matchmaking of the Rokkakudo Temple ✿

The willow tree called “Rokkaku Yanagi” at the Rokkakudo temple is known as “the willow for matchmaking.” Legend has it that at the beginning of Heian Period (beginning of the 9^th century) the Emperor Saga was looking for a woman to be his wife, and that one night he was told in a dream to go to the willow tree at the Rokkakudo Temple. There he found a beautiful woman, who later became his wife. Word spread among people that “by making a wish at the willow of the Rokkakudo temple, one may find a good match,” and the willow began to be called “willow of matchmaking.” It is now believed that tying a paper with one’s fortune written on it to two branches of willow can bring a good match.

來自日本全國各地學習池坊華道(花道)的學生與老師齊聚華道發祥地──京都‧六角堂與池坊本部，呈現千件以上的日式插花作品。六角堂也將一改白天的風景，進行夜間打燈。請您一定不要錯過這次欣賞日本傳統華道(花道)藝術的絕佳機會。

✿ 六角堂的結緣柳 ✿

六角堂境內的「六角柳」也被稱為「結緣柳」。相傳在平安時代，嵯峨天皇在尋找皇后人選之際，一日夜晚夢見了「到六角堂柳樹下尋找吧」的預言，實際到了六角堂後，天皇果真在柳樹下遇見了一位絶世佳人，並迎其為后。因此逸話，「向六角堂柳樹祈願即可覓得良緣」的傳言廣佈，不知何時起，六角堂的柳樹便被人們稱為「結緣柳」了。現在，據說拾起兩條柳枝一起繫上籤詩，許願後便可獲得佳緣。
