Flower Offering Ceremony for Ono no Imoko, the first generation of Ikenobo ancestors and known as an envoy to the Sui Dynasty China, was solemnly held at the Imoko’s mausoleum in Taishi Town, Osaka in 30th June. (30th June is the date of an anniversary of his death.)

 

The ceremony was held by the chief priest of the Shinaga Shrine which next to Imoko’s Mausoleum in the rain, and one pair of chrysanthemum Shoka was offered by staff member of Ikenobo Headquarters.

 

About 400 of Ikenobo disciples from all over Japan attend this ceremony every year, however this year we reduce the scale due to the spread of COVID-19 infection. For this year 32 person including Senko Ikenobo (the Headmaster Designate of Ikenobo), Masafumi Ikenobo (the Secretary General of Ikenobo Society of Floral Art), Asuka Ikenobo, Mr. Yuji Tanaka (the Mayer of Taishi Town) and some from Chapters nearby attend this ceremony to remember the grate achievement of the first generation and pray for further development of Ikebana.

 

About the relation of Ikenobo and Ono no Imoko
