✿Flower Offering at Sanjusangendo Temple -Shuntoe (spring peach festival)- ✿

 

Sanjusangendo temple literally means 33 intervals in Japanese. Accordingly every March 3rd, the date of seasonal festival for girls called peach festival, the temple holds Shuntoe (spring peach festival). Ikenobo offer flowers and hold ikebana exhibition at Shuntoe festival every year.

 

Since a state of emergency has been issued in Kyoto, the date of flower offering has changed to March 25th this year.

 

✿Flower offering by Headmaster Designate of Ikenobo Senko Ikenobo✿

 

In the normal year, a professor of Ikenobo Central Institute of Ikebana creates a dedicatory ikebana at the temple, and the Headmaster Designate Senko Ikenobo take her turn once a every five years. Because this year is the third year of Reiwa (name of current era in Japan), as well as the third year that thousand-armed Kannon of the temple have been designated a national treasure, the Headmaster Designate will create a dedicatory ikebana specially for this year.

The ikebana works by members of Kyoto Chapter will be exhibited in the main hall of Sanjusangendo temple.
