The Grand Ikebana arranged by forty-fifth Generation Ikenobo Headmaster Sen’ei Ikenobo is displayed at main entrance of Nihonbashi Takashimaya Department Store, Tokyo from March 17 (Wed). 

 

This exhibition is held at the time cherry blossoms start blooming.

This year, the Headmaster arranged a grand work of over 5 meters using weeping cherry tree, cherry blossom, willow tree, Forsythia, Spiraea thunbergia, Spiraea cantoniensis and Acer pictum. The work makes viewers think of scenery of Rokkakudo Temple in Kyoto where is now weeping cherry tree bloom beautifully. Please enjoy the scenery of weeping cherry tree and willow tree sway in the breeze.

 

During the exhibition, buds gradually bloom, flowers turn its color from white to pink, and sprout new leaves. The changing appearance is the appeal of this ikebana work.

The exhibition will end on March 23 (Thu).
