Ikenobo displayed a 2.7m height and 5m wide grand Rikka Shimputai ikebana arrangement at the lobby of Grand Prince Hotel Hiroshima for G7 Summit Hiroshima 2023. The ikebana was created by Mr. Kuniyoshi Tsuchiya, the Assistant Professor of Ikenobo Central Institute of Ikebana, and Ikenobo Hiroshima Chapter.
The theme of the ikebana is “Harmony and Beauty.” It presents a world of cooperation and harmony, where each person has a different personality, but accepts each other and makes the most of the individuality. A hexagon container which indicates the shape of Rokkakudo Temple, the birthplace of ikebana and the round image is used for the ikebana to pray for a successful meeting.
The ikebana uses seven kinds of plants and flowers that symbolize the seven countries, as well as the dark blue iris that symbolizes the EU and the orange Rhododendron azalea that is the image color of the Summit. (Pine: Japan, Maple: Canada, Lily: France, Rose Bicolor: America and England, Cornflower: Germany and France, Daisy: Italy)
