Celebrate the Holidays
休暇を楽しんでね
The Colorado Chapter celebrated the season with a multi-cultural flower show to bring in the New Year on December 9 and 10, 2023. The public was invited to learn about the rich history of Japanese holiday traditions with 61 beautiful Ikenobo flower creations which highlighted the season. The public enjoyed formal Mitsugusoku displays, Tatehana, Bamboo Kadomatsu, Rikka, Shoka, Holiday Shimputai and Happy New Year Jiyuka in red and white. The floral creations were accompanied by Edo Period scrolls including an original 17th century kakejiku (掛軸) of Taishi Shotoku. The exhibition was well received by thousands of Coloradans that came out to see the show after a heavy mountain snowfall. The Demonstration on the history of Ikenobo was attended by 61 guests. The show was filmed by a local reporter and will appear in a feature film on Ikenobo in America.
