Our Nagoya Floral Exhibition “Flower Life Future” was held from Wednesday September 10th to Monday September 15th in the Matsuzakaya Nagoya Store in Aichi Prefecture. Forty-fifth Generation Headmaster Sen’ei Ikenobo , Headmaster Designate Senko Ikenobo , and Youth Association Representative Senshu Ikenobo, as well as artists from all over the Tokai region contributed over 400 works over the exhibition period featuring seasonal materials like chrysanthemum, great burnet, Japanese bellflower, and Golden Lace.
At 9:15 AM on the first day Aichi Governer Hideaki Ohmura, Nagoya Mayor Ichiro Hirosawa, and other honored guests offered speeches for the opening ceremony and participated in the ribbon cutting ceremony. Following the ceremony the Headmaster, Headmaster Designate, and Youth Association Representative viewed and offered comments on all of the works on display. The second exhibition period was viewed by Mrs. Mika Ikenobo, and the third period was viewed by Secretary General Masafumi Ikenobo. The Youth Association Representative also visited the student corner of the exhibition over the long weekend.

The Headmaster’s work for this exhibition was a large Rikka Shimputai work themed “Deep Green filled Mountain,” using materials like Ezo spruce, oriental bittersweet, and weather-beaten wood. The Headmaster Designate’s work was a large free style work featuring Mimosa acacia, cockscomb, and oriental bittersweet. The Youth Association Representative’s ikebana work used materials like Japanese agrimony, purple fountain grass, and Wikstroemia indica.

There was also a “Brilliant Life of Ikenobo Ikebana” corner showing the Ikenobo “Philosophy of Life,” and a corner that held an introduction and reproduction of the Ikenobo Exhibition held at the Osaka Kansai World Expo this year that gathered quite a lot of attention.

On top of that, the Association of Chapters in the Chubu Area opened a tea ceremony room for the exhibition and a great many guests enjoyed their hospitality. We also we happy to welcome many families, young people, and foreign visitors from all over the region.
The Tokai Regional Tournament of the Hana no Koshien Competition was held during the exhibition as well.
