Ikebana is one of the traditional cultures of Japan. Ikenobo has been developing its philosophy and skills and handed down it from generation to generation.

 

Ikenobo Spring Exhibition is the flower exhibition to exhibit wonderful ikebana works arranged by ikebana creators who learn at Ikenobo Central Institute of Ikebana, the top ikebana educational institute in Japan.

 

During the exhibition period, about 600 ikebana works will be exhibited including the work arranged by the 45th Headmaster, Sen’ei Ikenobo and the Headmaster designate and the principal of the institute, Senko Ikenobo.

The exhibition of Free style works

Free style is a floral style which do not have prescribed pattern. Each ikebana creator arranges own work freely while making use of the characteristics and texture of plants used. The wide variety of expression will be possible in Free style. Please enjoy various way of expressions, theme or intension of ikebana at the 7th floor.

 

The Precincts of Rokkakudo Temple

Four ikebana works arranged by students who learned at Classical Rikka / Rikka Kenkyu-shitsu will be exhibited at the precincts of Rokkakudo Temple. Please enjoy ikebana harmonized with the solemn temple.

*Admission free

*There will be no night visit this year.

 

Ikebana Historical Museum

Special Exhibition “The Prince Shotoku and Rokkakudo Temple / Ikenobo”

Commemorating 1400 anniversary of Prince Shotoku’s death, paintings, statues, and ikebana materials relate to the prince will be exhibited. The work arranged by the Headmaster Designate, Senko Ikebana will be exhibited the museum.

Special Lectures (limited to the members of Ikenobo Society of Floral Art)

Special Lectures by professors of Ikenobo Central Institute of Ikebana will be held.

Chuken-sai Prize “The best work chosen by students of the Ikenobo Central Institute of Ikebana”

The best work of the exhibition will be decided by the vote of Students of Ikenobo Central Institute of Ikebana. The works exhibited at the 4th floor will be the object to the prize. The vote will make on the fist day of first and second term of the exhibition.

 

Hana Kuyo (memorial service for flowers)” the Buddhist service for 1400 anniversary of the Prince Shotoku’s death

Flowers will be offered at the Rokkakudo Temple as a memorial service for flowers. For this year, the memorial service will be held commemorating the 1400 anniversary of the Prince Shotoku’s death. The dedicator will be appointed from the graduates of 45th term of Tokubetu-ka.

*Flower parade will not be held this year
